Teaching English as a Second Language/Teaching English as a Foreign Language

The Graduate Certificate in TESL/TEFL consists of two prerequisites and 12 graduate credits. Courses are designed to provide basic preparation in teaching English to speakers of other languages in a variety of setting. Students may do a stand-alone certificate or apply to do a graduate certificate in addition to a masters or doctoral program. Students applying for the program can transfer in up to 9 credits taken at ISU as a graduate nondegree undeclared student (if grade of B or above) before admission to the certificate program. At least 3 credits must be earned towards the certificate requirements after admission (the same semester or a later semester). Thank you for considering our program and ISU for your future graduate education.
