Retaining a Diverse Graduate Student Body
Helping graduate students remain enrolled and on track to complete their graduate degrees at Iowa State University is a shared responsibility. Graduate students may feel isolated and disengaged from campus life. It is important we communicate all the inclusiveness efforts in and around campus across the Ames community. Take time with your students to show them you care by welcoming and valuing everyone as members of the ISU academic community. Listed below are some best practices you can take to ensure we retain a diverse graduate student body at ISU:
- Ensure that your incoming graduate students are connected with the Graduate Colleges’ First-Year Ph.D. Mentor Program
- Show visible support for on campus graduate student centers/organizations and cultural celebrations
