Postdoctoral Seed Grant

Postdoctoral Awardees

Purpose

These competitive grants provide postdoctoral scholars a valuable opportunity to apply for research funding in the role of a principal investigator. Postdoctoral scholars are expected to develop independent research, and this grant is an opportunity to gain experience doing so.

Eligibility

All postdoctoral scholars with established salary support for the duration of their proposed project are eligible for this award. The number of available seed grants that are funded vary by year. A minimum of three awards will be funded each year.

Funded Proposals

  • Project duration: 12 months
  • Maximum budget for research proposals: $2,400
  • The requested funds should serve to advance a new research idea that is not currently being funded by the PI or research group.
  • Seed grant money is intended to support research efforts and may include any supplies, materials, etc. that are needed to complete the research, excluding permanent equipment.
  • Seed grant money cannot be used for postdoctoral scholar salary or research assistant support.
  • Seed grant money cannot be used for professional conferences.

Outcomes

Grant recipients will be expected to submit a report describing in what ways the seed grant advanced the proposed research, results generated, and any publications. Any published work resulting from this seed grant should acknowledge the support.
