A Research Showcase Series lecture

Can used lithium-ion batteries be regenerated and returned to meaningful second-life applications instead of being discarded? Jayanth Ramamurthy’s research aims to understand how much performance can be restored, how these regenerated cells age compared to new ones, and what factors control their long-term health. This work supports cleaner energy systems by enabling low-cost storage for renewables and reducing the environmental impact of battery waste.

Jayanth Ramamurthy is a Ph.D. candidate specializing in lithium-ion battery degradation, regeneration, and performance analysis, with expertise spanning electrochemistry, diagnostics, and data-driven modeling.

This lecture recording can be found on the Available Recordings page approximately two business days after the event and will remain accessible for three weeks.
