Application Deadlines: Pre-applications must be approved before submitting a final application. The pre-application deadline is one month before the final application deadline. Each term has an early and a standard application deadline. The early deadline is suggested for international applicants requiring a new visa and Ph.D. applicants interested in competitive scholarships/grants. Fall 2021 pre-applications are due 15 November 2020 (early) or 1 February 2021 (standard); Spring 2022 pre-applications are due 15 July 2021 (early) or 1 September 2021 (standard). Fall 2021 final applications are due 15 December 2020 (early) or 1 March 2021 (standard); Spring 2022 pre-applications are due 15 August 2021 (early) or 1 October 2021 (standard).

Pre-applications are FREE and only require CV/resume, unofficial transcripts and SOP. It is OPTIONAL to submit GRE and English proficiency test results. Please do NOT submit names for Letters of Reference in your pre-application (LORs are only included in the final application).
All pre-applications automatically considered for GRE waiver.
The Computer Science Graduate Admissions Committee will evaluate your pre-application and let you know within two weeks if the GRE is required and if you are potentially admissible to Iowa State University. If approved, you will be invited to continue your application for the final admission decision. Additional documentation, such as LORs, GRE (unless waived), degree statement/certificate, and English proficiency test results (if applicable), will be required during the second phase of the application.
This program does NOT require any supplementary material. Applicants have the option to upload supplemental documents, such as published research papers.
