Graduate students in sociology develop the capability for original and creative research. Students engage in either independent or group research under the direction of faculty members. Preparation for the graduate degree is not confined to formal class work and activity on research projects. ISU-wide: Academic Records, GPA, Statement of Purpose, Letters of Recommendation

Application Deadlines: January 10 for Fall enrollment (this includes current ISU student applicants). The Sociology program no longer admits students during Spring term.

Program Requires GRE: Yes

Program Requires GMAT : No

The Sociology Graduate Program requires at least 2 (preferably 3) letters of recommendation to be submitted as part of the online application.
Ph.D. applicants must submit copy of Master's thesis. NOTE: Master's students applying to the PhD program who have not yet completed their Thesis at the time of their application should submit another relevant writing sample. Upload as Supplemental Document or Email to Rachel Burlingame.
