George Washington Carver Doctoral Fellowship
The George Washington Carver (GWC) Doctoral Fellowship is named to honor George Washington Carver, Iowa State’s first African American student and faculty. The fellowship is designed to assist in the national effort of increasing the number of Ph.D. degrees earned by underrepresented students
You must be an underrepresented student (African American, American Indian, or Latino), a US citizen, and admitted into a Ph.D. program as a new student with a fall entry date.
You cannot apply for the GWC fellowship as a student. You must be nominated by your department or program.
- The fellowship is for three (3) years from the term of entry.
- Changing to another program of study may terminate the fellowship.
The annual stipend is $27,500.
Tuition is covered 100%.
All mandatory fees are covered 100%.
