Speak/Teach Program Mission

Our mission is to support international graduate students eligible for or on teaching appointments and to help them improve their communicative competence and their ability to participate in a variety of instructional roles at Iowa State University. Our commitment to promoting and ensuring teaching excellence is realized through identifying and addressing the challenging needs of ITAs by means of testing, instruction, and support. To successfully fulfill our goals, we have developed valid and reliable assessment procedures that are informed both by theory and research in language testing. The courses we offer exercise best practices in oral communication pedagogy. We strive to enhance our support and services with cutting-edge instructional technology. Our close collaboration with the TESL/Applied Linguistics and Technology graduate program at ISU empowers us to follow this pursuit.
