GPSS Allocations
Fall 2008 Deadline: Friday, September 26th, 2008 (5PM)
(Note: Deadlines are always the fourth Friday in September and February)
GPSS Allocation Guidelines
- Only organizations that consist completely of graduate and/or professional students qualify to apply.
- Allocation forms are always due by 5:00 pm on the fourth Friday in September and the fourth Friday in February. One copy must be e-mailed to the GPSS
Treasurer and another be submitted to the GPSS office (West Office
Space, Memorial Union.)
- Funding requests by Graduate Student Organizations (GSOs) must
supplement the education of graduate and/or professional students.
- Each GSO may apply for up to $800 per year, with the exception of
SCAVMA, which may apply for up to $4000 per year. Only $800
of requests will be considered!
- Organizations may apply once per academic year, either in October or February
- Requests for funding student conference attendance should be applied for
through a Professional Advancement Grant (PAG).
- At most half of a GSOs request may be for food (preferably tied to
academic events) or social activities. Please note that food and
socials have been zero funded in the past by the GPSS Finance
Committee, especially in times of budget crisis.
- Each requesting GSO must submit a ledger for the past 12 months.
- The Finance Committee and GPSS reserve the right to exercise their
judgment in considering funding requests and amount of funding
granted.
- The following will be included in GPSS considerations of allocating
funds to GSOs:
- Requests for academic activities, including speaker expenses
- Requests for journals and books specific to the discipline that are
not already available on campus
- Requests for campus-oriented rather than off-campus activities
- Requests for allocations benefiting the greatest number of
students
- Requests from interdepartmental programs, departmental organizations,
and other GSOs that are not funded by GSB
- Requests from organizations showing financial need
- Requests from organizations with sound financial records
- Social, religious, and political groups are not funded by the GPSS
GPSS Allocation Request [doc].
Please read the FAQ on allocations for answers to commonly arising questions.
If you have any further questions, please email the GPSS Treasurer.
