Financing Graduate Education

Iowa State University provides graduate education of international repute at an affordable cost. Even so, financial assistance can be a crucial part of attaining an advanced degree. Iowa State is aware of this need and provides services to help you plan for graduate education expenses. Expenses you may expect to encounter are:

• Tuition - current rates for in- and out-of-state tuition at ISU
• Fees - including computer fees, class fees, books and some living expenses
• Housing and Living Expenses - including on-campus graduate residence halls and apartments
• Health Insurance - offered at an affordable rate through our Student Health Center

Some ways in which Iowa State provides assistance in education expenses are:

• Employment - including on- and off-campus jobs
• Financial Aid - including scholarships, grants, and loans
• Graduate Assistantships - including Teaching Assistantships and Research Assistantships
• Graduate Minority Assistantship Program (GMAP)- financial assistance for U.S. citizens who are ethnic minorities pursuing master and doctoral degrees across all areas.
• George Washington Carver Doctoral Fellowship Program - open to U.S. citizens who are ethnic minorities pursuing Ph.D. degrees across all areas.

Central campus is home to ISU's distinctive campanile, several wireless access points, and dozens of events throughout the year.
